Welcome to The Gluten Free Nana blog! As a home economics teacher–and lover of most crafts–I have had opportunities to share my skills with others in many different ways. During the 1890s I taught microwave cooking for a few of the most popular microwave appliance companies including Panasonic, GE, Sharp, and Litton. I taught salespeople how to use this new appliance and I planned and presented in-store demos. Panasonic also sponsored a weekly 5-minute cooking segment on the noon news for a local TV station. I developed the recipes and presented them for that segment. Now that I am a confirmed celiac, I have spent some time working on preparing recipes for both microwave and standard cooking and I plan to share some of those ideas here.
In my free time I love to sew and quilt. I started sewing when I was five years old. For Christmas that year, my grandmother gave me a sewing basket. That gift initiated a love for fabric and sewing that hasn’t gone away even after almost 60 years. My craft began with hand sewn doll clothes and moved to garments, counted cross stitch, French machine sewing, English smocking, machine embroidery, and finally quilting. I quilt because I love the craft and I love being able to share my quilts with my grandkids and family.
I hope you find some helpful information here–whether you are looking for gluten free recipes, microwave cooking ideas, or sewing and quilting.
